Winner of Thornton School of Music's Performance & Presentation Award Performing at Pasadena Conservatory of Music

Cellist Han Bin Yoon, 2011 winner of the Thornton School of Music's Presentation and Performance Award (PPA), will perform at the Pasadena Conservatory of Music on Saturday, February 18. The five virtuoso works on the program display the stylistic changes in the cello repertoire over three centuries. Yoon will begin the evening at 7:30 with a pre-concert talk highlighting the cello's long history as a prominent solo instrument. 

In May 2011, Yoon was awarded first prize in the USC Thornton School of Music's Concerto Competition. Currently a student with Ralph Kirshbaum at Thornton, he was the recipient of the 2010 Korean Honor Scholarship for exceptional musical talent. He was also awarded the New England Conservatory of Music's Presidential Scholarship in 2010. Yoon will be accompanied by pianist Jiayi Shi.
